Antiquing Fluid is a cold patination liquid treatment which will colour new or bright brass, copper or bronze to give an antique look. It is ideal for use in antique restoration and must be used on clean unlacqueredbrass and copper free from oils and grease. The level of colouration is controlled by the dilution. The application method is by total immersion, brushing or swabbing. When the desired shade is achieved protect the metal with with Liberon beeswax paste or Briwax spray wax. Black: For all copper based alloys & mild steel. The process is primarily designed for immersion. The surface of the metal is not etched, there are no dimensional changes. Parts are usually oiled or waxed after treatment as the blacking process itself is not formulated to impart any corrosion preventive properties. The process can be glycol thickened and brush applied for touching up work. This product will also impart a dark grey finish to zinc.Brown: For Copper & Brass, on Gilding Metal and Silver. The colours range from light to dark brown, but a slight etching effect gives a flatter thereby darker effect. The process can also be used as a barrelling process as described above and can be used as a subsequent process on electroplated deposits of Copper, Brass and Silver.Bronze: For Copper & Brass, on Gilding Metal and Silver. This is very similar to the brown, however gives a more warmer tone and a bit lighter shade of ageing.Old English Brass: For Copper & Brass, on Gilding Metal and Silver. This is very similar to the bronze but with a lighter tone, more of a washed out appearance. The Brown, Bronze and Old English Brass are NOT suitable for Steel. Please note that the photo examples used below are as a guide only. You can achieve many different effects using this product depending on the method of application. Please note that 250ml, 500ml and 1L bottles will come with our own label, but the fluid inside is from Curator.
